Purpose: I love love love this craft not because it is super creative and fun (which it is) but because you can talk about the promises of God while you are making it with kids. The rainbow was a promise that God would never destroy they world with a flood again. God never breaks a promise! How many times have you broken a promise? I break promises constantly! And most of the time they are broken because of things that happen that I have little or no control over. But that never happens to God! When he makes a promise he keeps it no matter what! It is as good as done and you can totally count on it. I love that he proves himself over and over and over and over. The whole Bible is God making promises. Then what happens is we doubt, take matters into our own hands, mess it up, and God makes it right again. Seriously, how many times did the Israelites mess up wandering in the dessert (mmmmmdessert)...desert? But God always kept his word. He rained down manna from heaven, led with fire and cloud, split rivers in two, provided water, and I am sure he provided strength. God promised to not flood the world again CHECK. God promised the promise land CHECK. God promised a savior CHECK. God promises trials and tribulations for thoes who follow him CHECK but he also promises to never leave us and that is the most precious promise. Knowing that his promise to love us and always be with us could never ever be broken is completely mind blowing! No matter how many times I doubt and take matters into my own incapable hands He is there to clean up the mess with his very capable, loving and gentle hands. Jesus promises to come again a promise i know will be fulfilled. He will come back and destroy my adversary, with sword, fire and vengeance! And then my prince will take me to the castle on his white horse. Yes I know this may not happen in my lifetime and it may sound kinda fairy taleish but hey I am a girl! Even if he doesn't come in my lifetime I know he will come again! And what a day that will be! Can you even imagine the party we will have after satan is defeated? Talk about cool! I urge you to day dream about it! Long for heaven! Our true home...where we belong for ever and ever.
